Benjamin Button Blu-ray is Together epic in comprehensiveness and intimate in detail

Together epic in comprehensiveness and intimate in detail, David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button blu-ray is actually the director’s most heartwarming film so far ( though Fight Club and 7 don’t offer much in the way of competition ).

Loosely based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald story, this romantic drama tells the story of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt), born in New Orleans as a baby with wrinkles, cataracts, and arthritis.

Benjamin will age backwards, getting more youthful as he watches everyone around him growing older. Included in that group are his adoptive mummy, Queenie ( Taraji P. Henson), and Daisy (Cate Blanchett), the love of his life whom he meets when she is a little girl and he is an old man.

They age in reverse, but despite Benjamin’s globe-trotting journeys, their lives regularly intersect. The script from Oscar winner Eric Roth bears more than a few hallmarks in common with his earlier work on Forrest Gump : both adaptations cross decades and continents.

But The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’s script or maybe the fine acting are not its most provoking achievement ; the technology–both CGI and makeup–used to make Benjamin and Daisy age are noteworthy, and makes the blue ray movies completely plausible, but they’re certainly aided by fine performances from both Pitt and Blanchett. The victory of technology only serves to underline the wonderful thing about this film and of the love story at its heart.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button sighs with longing and broils with intrigue while investigating the philosophical mazes and emotional enigmas of its protagonist’s condition. It turns out that skipping a ‘blowout’ garage sale she planned paid off for up-and-coming actress Taraji P. Henson after all, she told some in an interview after netting her Benjamin Button role.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button is not just a technical wonder, it is an epic piece of storytelling with an awesome awareness of detail. That isn’t to assert The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is the most extraordinary film of Fincher’s impressive career, but it is easily one of the best of 2008 and the account sucks you right in and rarely lets go.

Techno music and songs available at JonLeger.com

You can now find a lot of great techno songs at JonLeger.com. In case you’re interested in creating music yourself, here’s how he does it:

FL Studio

His primary tool for creating electronic music is FL Studio. FL Studio has it all: a mixer, a sequencer, loads of special effects and filters. Truly fantastic. He strongly suggests you purchase a copy! It takes a while to get used to using it, but it really makes music-making a digital breeze.

MAGIX Music Editor 2.0

When Jon needs to modify, cut and paste the sounds he uses in his songs, he uses MAGIX. It was cheap — he got it at Best Buy for $30. It’s very handy for the wave-editing that FL Studio can’t do. He looked at their site (magix.com), but I couldn’t find it. Maybe they don’t sell it anymore?

Bink Video’s RAD Video Tools

He’s started making songs based on movies and TV shows that he likes, and sometimes it’s useful to extract sounds from the movie trailers and movie clips that are available online. To accomplish this he uses the RAD Video Tools from Bink Video. They’re donationware, so be sure to give them a few bucks if you find their stuff useful (he did).

Loops and Samples

Jon has purchased thousands of loops, samples and instruments for use in FL Studio. Two of the places he’s gotten the sounds from are PlatinumLoops.com and PeaceLoveProductions.com. Both have a large selection at reasonable prices.

Hardware

He uses an audio-technica studio microphone for vocals (AT3035), and an Edirol UA-25 USB Audio Capture device to record from the microphone. He loves the Edirol because it’s very small (perfect for my desk) and supports two studio microphones and has a digital output for headphones.

If you’re interested in creating your own music, he wants to tell you this: it’s a lot easier (and cheaper) than you might think. You don’t need a studio (even for vocals). He records vocals in his office at home. All of the software and equipment costs came to around $1,250 (including the loops). The equipment all fits on my desk, and the software runs on my home PC. FL Studio needs a good bit of memory, so Jon suggests you don’t have less than 1GB of RAM (that’s how much he has and it works fine).

Office Refurbishment Ideas for Productive Employees

Introduction

An enormous number of people work in offices of one kind or another. They may be offices in buildings purpose built or attached to a factory or in business premises. For many self employed business people the office is a room in their home converted for that purpose. Solicitors, doctors, estate agents and insurance agents, in fact any business that you can think of, works from some kind of office or another. You might even say 80% of the adult population work in an office. But I wonder how many of those people have any say in what kind of office they have and whether or not it suits their requirements. Mostly when someone new joins a company or firm, they are given a space for their office usually left by the previous incumbent. I suspect that if you asked occupants how they would like their office to be they would find it difficult to tell you.

When you think of the number of hours we spend in an office, at least eight hours per day and sometimes up to sixteen hours if it’s a busy period. Yes people are allowed out for breaks and rest times, but it is an awful lot of your life cooped up in small space. If at least a third of one’s working life is to be spent in an office, then it makes logical sense to ensure the environment is as comfortable, pleasant and as healthy as possible.

So how much thought goes into the planning of workspaces?

Where a building is purpose built such as an office, then the architects I am sure will have created good designs to suit the purpose. However, it has been known for new buildings to be problematic for the people working it them. For instance, synthetic materials used for carpeting can sometimes give off toxic fumes which cause allergies or illness of the staff. Air conditioning that relies on recycled air has the potential to carry bugs that can lay the whole office off at the same time. So there are many factors to consider in creating an office environment to ensure the staff are productive, creative, energised and remain healthy.

Old buildings, originally built for other uses, when converted to office space will have different issues to resolve. Often old buildings have very high ceilings where the heat rises up so that the inhabitants below are cold yet the heating bills are going through the roof, literally!! How to maximise the space available to provide a comfortable working environment will be a real challenge and this is where often the use of a mezzanine floor and suspended ceilings are valuable.

It is a well known fact for any organisation that happy workers give better performance and generate more revenue than unhappy workers. The workforce are more motivated, creative, helpful and have less time off work for illness if they are happy in their jobs. I am sure there are statistics available for these details, but it’s basic common sense if you make sure your interior fit out specialists cater for the needs of your staff and their comfort at work then the company will perform better moving forwards.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the study of workplaces and the equipment used, to achieve the best design for comfort, safety, efficiency, and productivity. Research has been carried out over the last few years at Nottingham University on office space allocation issues.

Workspace planning is fast becoming a specialist industry because of all of the current regulations and legislation. Formerly known, in the UK as the Factories Act and now known as the Health and Safety Executive regulations are in place to ensure that employees have sufficient working space in which to perform their work. This can be a potential minefield including such things as physical space, usable space, corridor spaces, and minimum light and ventilation regulations. If you are about to commence on an office refurbishment project ensure that your interior fit out specialists of conversant with all of these regulations before you engage them to perform your work.

What are the Criteria for a good office environment? We are sentient beings, which mean we resonate with feeling and perception as well as intellectually to our surrounding.

Seeing

The first thing to consider when commencing an office refurbishment project is how does it look? The initial impact on us comes from what we see. The decor and arrangement of furniture, the window aspect and lighting are important in our perception of whether or not it is pleasing to the eye. Does the office have all the necessary equipment, computer, phone and sufficient storage for files and books etc? Plants provide a sense of balance in the space as long as they are discreetly positioned and don’t make it look cluttered. Plants are oxygen generators and help to refresh the air.

Smell

On entering a new place the first thing we take in is the smell whether we pay attention to it or not. We notice immediately if the air is stuffy or if there is an unpleasant smell such as sweaty bodies. However a pleasant fragrance or no smell at all will be inviting. Baker shops nearly always pump out the fresh smell of baked bread into the street to entice people in to buy the goods. So although we may not be aware that smell plays an important part in our responses, we are still animals and we do use our olfactory senses a great deal more that we realise.

Feel touch

How does the furniture feel? Plastic seats can be very uncomfortable to sit on for a long time. Plastic does not breathe, it draws moisture from the skin so that when you stand up your posterior will be damp and uncomfortable. Padded fabric is warmer than leather for comfort and not as expensive. The desk chair needs to be the correct height for desk and give suitable support, a computer needs to be set correctly to avoid neck and wrist strain of the operator.

The temperature in the workspace is best if it’s not too warm and not too cold. Maintaining a working temperature of twenty one degrees centigrade should also be an integral part of office refurbishments solutions.

Too warm and we become sluggish and sleepy, too cold and we become distracted and use up valuable energy keeping warm. Fresh air is also beneficial to stimulate the brain cells.

Sound Hear

What can we hear? Is it noisy or quiet? When I was first starting out in business, I went to visit a local manufacturing company to learn about the way they managed their business. At lunch time I was taken into the executive dining area where there was a waitress service and we had a very civilised lunch. Later I was taken to the works canteen. When we walked in I was hit with a blast of noise such as I had never experienced before. The hall was large with a very high ceiling and nothing to damp down the echo. The result was that everyone ended up shouting to be heard and there was loud music playing as well. I was shocked, not just at the noise level but by the contrast between the executive dining room and the workers canteen. I had come from an environment which treated all members of the company the same so there were no executive areas and everyone, high and low mingled together for meals and break times. Guess which company had the better worker relationships and higher output?

Where a company utilises an open plan office then noise levels can be very distracting and one solution is to incorporate ‘White Noise’ which is a low level background noise to interfere with the general office talk going on over the phone or mini meetings. Sometimes quiet relaxing music is introduced as background noise but this is not usual in a business place.

Taste

Well we are not going to go around licking the furniture, but another important consideration is to ensure that a there is an area to enjoy a nice coffee or tea away from the desk throughout the day. So is there a pleasant area for making drinks and preparing snacks, or even lunch facilities alongside the office. I once worked in an office where they had a small kitchen area off the main office for making drinks and snacks and there was always a bowl of fresh fruit for employees, as the company recognising the refreshing effects of fresh fruit.

Workspace planning

So as you can see there are many things that can make the work environment a pleasant place to be. However getting the original layout and size of spaces for the employees is a complex process.

How much area does each individual need to work in? According to the Officewise publication from the Health and Safety Executive in the UK employers must provide a minimum of 11 cubic metres for each person permanently occupying a workplace. However there are all sorts of exceptions and caveats to this rule, such as making sure the space is usable space, and clearly if that space were under the stairs with no windows, or ventilation then it would not be suitable. So it is very important to ensure that your new office fit out adheres to all of the current legislation with regards to workspace laws.

Suspended ceilings can be used by the industrial fit out specialists to make good use of otherwise unusable space which makes the installation of services easier and more less expensive. Electrical supply, air conditioning units, water pipes and telephone cables can all run behind the suspended ceiling making access easy if anything goes wrong and repairs need to be implemented.

Positioning of the electrical and telephone outlet is also crucial. The computers used in offices today all require their own electrical supply even if they are networked with the system.

External light from windows is a requirement for offices. The days of the cupboard office cubbyhole are gone. Light airy spaces make people feel good and doses of sunshine each day lift our spirits. However too much sunshine will overheat an office so the use of vertical blinds is recommended to deflect the rays of the sun without reducing too much the level of illumination.

Costs

To preserve office space costs some industrial fit our specialists have come up with the idea that instead of having a board rooms for meetings they have their meeting standing up around a special tall coffee table. This reduces the amount of time spent in meetings and the space is reusable for the lunches. Other schemes encourage employees to work from home for part of a week and utilise a system of desk sharing or moveable desks.

Reconfigurable spaces

Another way of economising on the cost of office space is by careful rearrangement of the existing floor area. There may be dead areas which could be released and turned into useable space. The installation of new interior partition walls can rearrange the existing space to create a more congenial working environment. Sometimes working in an open plan office is beneficial for communication between staff, other times it is a distraction and prevents efficiency. So having the option of both open space and separate offices provides the full range of options which can be easily introduced with new partition walls.

For example one of my clients, took over a set of offices and had various walls moved, so instead of it having two small offices, one without a window, they created one large office for the MD and a really good sized store room which they needed for long term storage of customer files. They then took out another divider and made a good size open plan office space and rearranged another wall to create a board come conference room. Also access to the little kitchen was changed to be more convenient. The choice of subtle colours on the walls and new vertical blinds caused the whole suite of rooms to be transformed into a pleasant and airy working area. Where there is plenty of ceiling height the introduction of a Mezzanine floor generates valuable areas perhaps for storage, private meeting rooms or extra offices.

Other thoughts in workspace planning, is the situation of facilities such as kitchen, toilets, relaxation areas and outside space if available. Sometimes the introduction of a simple partition can create a relaxation/dining area without losing too much of the work area.

All Health and Safety regulations are paramount they have to be adhered to in the workplace and must be incorporated into any plan along with full fire regulations.

Conclusion

Many firms may feel that upgrading the facilities is a ‘nice to have’ idea and the reality is that it usually comes at the bottom of the list on money allocation. However this is erroneous thinking; office refurbishment is never a waste of time or money. Creating a pleasant office environment by upgrading worn out or old fashioned surroundings and furnishings will make a big difference to the working life of the employees. Improved working conditions may be only part of the picture in achieving real job satisfaction, but it is a good start in the right direction. It also says a lot about what the senior people in the organisation think about their employees. If they ensure that their staff are given the necessary equipment and facilities to do their job effectively then the employees will give better service and can be more efficient and there will be a better working environment all around.

Different Types of Cancer

If you can believe it, there are more than a hundred types of cancer – it is just that we get bombarded with the kinds that are most common. These more known cancer types include breast, lung, colon, and prostate. Aside from these, you may have heard about other types such as brain (tumors), bladder, cervical, endometrial, esophageal, head and neck, kidney, leukemia, and lymphoma.

Others however literally have no clear ideas on what exactly are these kinds of debilitating diseases. Cancer is a condition that occurs when damaged cells in any part of the body reproduce at a rapid rate. Normally, cells would grow, divide, and then die in a particular time frame. When a body is young, cells usually reproduce faster. As the body grows older, this slows down and typically just happens when a cell dies or when the body suffers from injuries.

Cancer cells however, have a process of their own: the cells become damaged because of the damage that stems from the DNA they contain. DNA damage can be cause by reasons that we all know – lifestyles. Smoking, a bad diet, pollution – these are just some of the factors that can damage DNA. The bad news though, is that cancer cells can also be caused by reasons as of yet unknown. Even people who live in a healthy fashion can suffer from cancer too.

They just keep on reproducing and since these cells are abnormal, the cells they produce are abnormal as well. Because of the rapid rate that these damaged cells reproduce, they tend to spread to other tissues and damage the cells there as well. Effects Of Global Warming

A region’s climate may alter over time becoming hotter, cooler, drier or wetter. Natural selection will determine the organisms with characteristics appropriate to the new climate. Over hundreds and thousands of generations constant minute changes will eventually lead to a new species that can survive and thrive in the altered climate.

For a long time it has been believed that the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply is going to be a positive one. This is because the rising level of carbon-dioxide resulted for global warming will help the greeneries for photosynthesis.

Thus there will be a rise of agricultural production and food supply. The theorem received a boost after the evidence of a sharp rise of barley production as one of the effects of global warming in Iceland which was quite impossible even few years ago.

The success or failure of an organism is reliant upon its ability to reproduce young that mature to produce more young. Only the young with the greatest survival traits for any given habitat will endure. These surviving young will transfer their adaptive characteristics to the subsequent generations. This process is known as natural selection.

But more recent experiments and researches have revealed that the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply are not that good after all. AN UNEP 2001 report on the global warming has predicted that USA is going to have more droughts, floods, landslides and storms.

Winter will gradually be shortened and sobered down, while summer will rise in expansion and severity. Along with this heavy rain, big storm, heavy snowfall, high sea level, increasing coastal erosion and other problems will occur.

In warm climates organisms need to cool off. Animals’ strategies include heat avoidance (by going underground, or into water), or sweating and panting to induce evaporative temperature reduction. Plants must adapt to heat and drought by using leaves to minimise heat stress and water loss.

So to fight the effects of global warming, the researchers have established new methods of production with continuous revision of models. But still the best possible process to reduce the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply is to be established.

The Dodge Dynasty and Chrysler New Yorker (AC Bodies) Air Suspension!

The AC-body was introduced in 1988 as the Dodge Dynasty and Chrysler New Yorker. The Dynasty was available in base and LE versions, using the 2.5 L 4-cylinder as a base engine. That engine was new to Chrysler and featured multiple-point injection. The New Yorker and Dynasty LE had a standard 3.0 Mitsubishi V6, which was also an option on the base Dynasty; it had a full 1/3 (50) extra horsepower. Chrysler considered the New Yorker Landau to be a separate model at the time, the main differences being a vinyl landau roof and standard load-levelling suspension and Infinity stereo.

The New Yorker joined an existing New Yorker model, which was renamed New Yorker Turbo for 1988. In that year, the Fifth Avenue was still based on the Diplomat/Gran Fury, and would remain so until 1989, so the New Yorker name was now split from the Fifth Avenue model for the time being. The Dynasty and New Yorker were similar in architecture to all the various extended K-cars, with a similar rear air suspension, solid rear axle, and common components under the hood and in the chassis; various visible parts were also shared, including the steering column, stereos, and climate controls. The Dynasty bucked the trend of console-mounted shifters and stuck with the tried-and-true column shift, though.

In 1990, the dashboard was changed slightly and the 3.3 V6 was added to the option list (the 3.8, too, but we’ll get into that later). Also in 1990, the platform was stretched slightly to create the Fifth Avenue and Imperial (Fifth Avenue had 3.3 standard, 3.8 optional – Imperial had 3.8 standard). The only real difference was the rear doors were a bit longer. Also, the front end on the Chrysler air suspension models was given a sloping treatment, but otherwise looked the same. Dynasty was never changed on the outside. The dashboard used from 1990 to the end was similar in many ways to the older big-body cars, but considerably smaller. Switchgear felt rather dated even at the time, with a feel from the 1970s. Indeed, the Dynasty was a good option for those who missed their Polara’s interior.

Chiller Evaporators

The chillers evaporator is a heat exchanger that transfers heat from a process or air conditioning water circuit to the chillers cooler liquid refrigerant. Most air cooled chillers in the UK chiller hire market will be fitted with a shell and tube evaporator, a plate heat exchanger evaporator or a coil in tank evaporator. A shell and tube evaporator is used primarily on chilled water applications. When a chiller is fitted with this type of evaporator the chillers cool liquid refrigerant flows through tubes encased in a shell.

The process or air conditioning circuit water fills the shell flowing around the tubes. As heat is transferred from the water to the chillers refrigerant the gas boils inside the tubes and the resulting vapour is drawn into the chillers compressor.

Hot water will enter the shell at one end, chilled water leaving at the opposite end.
A Plate heat exchanger evaporator can be used for chilled water or fluid cooling applications. Stainless steel evaporators are especially suited in food and beverage applications such as batch cooling or potable water systems.

A coil in tank evaporator comprises a coil block, usually copper, with aluminium fins to provide an efficient heat transfer surface. The coil block is then submerged in a chilled water tank which acts as a thermal buffer for the refrigeration system. This type of coil is suited to hire chillers used on process cooling applications, typically reactor cooling systems in chemical cooling, petrochemical cooling & pharmaceutical cooling systems.

Air Cooled Chiller Condensers

The condenser is a major component of a water chiller. The condenser is a heat exchanger that rejects heat from the chillers refrigerant to air. Some chillers are water cooled. A Water cooled chiller gives up its heat into relatively cool water from a cooling tower, air-blast cooler or adiabatic cooler. A typical air cooled condenser fitted to an air cooled water chiller will use axial fans (propeller type) to draw outdoor air over a finned tube heat transfer surface (heat exchanger).

The temperature difference or “delta T” between the hot refrigerant gas that is flowing through the condenser and the cooler outdoor air induces heat transfer. The heat reduction of the chillers refrigerant vapour causes it to condense into liquid. The last part of the chiller condenser is called a sub-cooler. The chiller sub-cooler reduces the liquid gas temperature still further, under its condensing temperature. The air cooled chiller is best suited to chiller hire applications. Chiller hire projects require systems to be delivered and installed quickly with the minimum of fuss.

New Recovery Music for Overcoming Addicition

Overcoming addiction is a process. It is a fact, from some individuals addiction recovery seems like a life long battle that never ends. But, it doesn’t have to be. There are several great resources to help fix the problem so you’re not an spending your time and your life fighting it. In conjunction to established systems.

There is some pretty rocking recovery music that really put a different perspective on addiction and a better way to rcoever from it. It is cool addiction recovery music but a story similar to the 12 steps that is about of returning to sanity. This is rather unique. It sounds kind of like a mix of NIN and muse but with being so dismal. He’s got a few song previews on the homepage but I think that is because they are short-term before having it professionally recorded. It is great recovery rock and with a new view that is cool.
